Heart of Jesus Lookout – Spectacular Panoramas Above Szekler Land!
The Heart of Jesus Lookout is located on Gordon Hill, between the villages of Lupeni and Bisericani in Harghita County, at an altitude of 953 meters above sea level. The monumental statue of Jesus is not only a religious and cultural symbol, but also one of the most spectacular panoramic viewpoints in Székely Land.
The site can be reached from the DN13A national road connecting Praid and Odorheiu Secuiesc, from the direction of Șiclod. The final section leads along a gravel and dirt road, adding a unique atmosphere to the journey.
The lookout serves both as a panoramic viewpoint and a place for spiritual reflection. Visitors can climb inside the statue to the viewing platform, where breathtaking views open over the hills of Harghita and the surrounding Székely villages.
The monument stands 22.5 meters tall on a 1.2-meter-high pyramid-shaped base. Its structure is made of galvanized steel, while the exterior is covered with stainless steel. The official consecration took place on August 17, 2013.
The creators of the project were Magyari Árpád and Péter János, with Gordon Prod Ltd. acting as the main supporter.
From the very beginning, the statue generated significant public debate. Some consider it a bold and modern artistic creation, while others believe its appearance contrasts with the traditional landscape of the region. Despite the controversy, the Heart of Jesus Lookout has become one of the best-known tourist attractions in Harghita over the years.
